Treatment Options at Our Birmingham Clinic
At the Birmingham Clinic, we offer tailored 1-to-1 treatment programmes for individuals with scoliosis and other spinal conditions, using the same evidence-based approach that has made Scoliosis SOS a leader in non-surgical care worldwide.
Each treatment journey begins with a comprehensive initial assessment, designed to understand your unique spinal profile, symptoms, goals and history. Advanced measurement tools – including radiation-free spinal scanning and posture analysis – help our expert team evaluate posture and alignment accurately.

Our core treatment methodology is the renowned ScolioGold programme, which blends the most effective scoliosis-specific physiotherapy techniques. These internationally recognised methods may include:
- Schroth Method
- FITS (Functional Individual Treatment of Scoliosis)
- SEAS (Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis)
- PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation)
In addition to scoliosis-specific exercise therapies, our therapists integrate supportive manual techniques to help improve muscular balance, mobility and overall function. These may include hands-on soft tissue work and mobility-enhancing approaches that complement the active exercise components of treatment.
Both in-clinic sessions and optional virtual appointments are available, giving you flexibility in how you access your care at Scoliosis SOS.
Meet Max – Birmingham Clinic ScolioGold Therapist

Hi, I’m Max O’Rourke, the Senior ScolioGold Therapist at the Birmingham clinic. I’ve currently been at the clinic for 4 years, working closely with patients of all ages to deliver personalised scoliosis treatment plans, with a strong focus on long-term results and patient confidence.
The most rewarding part of my role is supporting patients through what can be a challenging time, helping them work towards their goals and seeing the positive transformations they achieve along the way.
What Our Patients Are Saying About Their Experience at the Birmingham Clinic
“Max at the Scoliosis SOS Birmingham Clinic has been absolutely professional and supportive throughout my daughter’s treatment. The tailored exercises have helped prevent her scoliosis from progressing.”
“Our 15 year old daughter was identified with mild scoliosis & we went to Birmingham for the Gold course from July to November 2024. She was made to feel really comfortable & at ease & the results have been well worth it. Thanks so much, especially Max O’Rourke, for helping our girl retain her dance ambitions.”
“I had the best experience at this clinic as I was treated by Max. Very professional and listened to all of my concerns regarding my scoliosis and the aches and pains that come with it. Results speak for themselves and couldn’t be happier! Max really put a lot of time and effort into our sessions to ensure every complaint that I had was addressed properly and professionally. Very competent! Thanks again Max.”
“I took a recent 30 hour course in Birmingham with Max O’Rourke who was very helpful, supportive and professional through the whole process. I got a personal plan made and after 30 hours my spine and back overall feel much stronger and has improved from the exercises provided both in clinic and to do at home”
